Description: This is a very cool bent glass oval tray. Not sure if it was a display piece meant to be hung on the wall or a glass tray such as what Georges Briard or Culver made for barware swank. It is a great and unusual period piece, however, in reasonable vintage condition. This oval tray measures 17" long and 9 3/4" across. It is a mirrored or smoked glass finish with a map of America in silver in the middle. The map is centered in the tray. In the photos, it looks off center because I had to take the photo at an angle to avoid glare off the silver detailing. It appears to have been a business artifact as it says "G.W.B." on it with a logo of a bear shoving trees in a bag. The only city marked on there is St. Louis, so not sure if it was a Missouri corporation. The George Washington Bridge is in St. Louis but the logo doesn't seem to reflect anything about that. I can't dig up anything on what G.W.B or the bear drawing could possibly refer to. I have seen another one of these trays on eBay with the map but without the GWB bear graphic, which makes me think this was a promotional piece commissioned by a business to celebrate a success or give to clients. There is one tiny ding in the rim. There are also some scratches in the silver of the map. It is quite noticeable when held up to light, so this is not a piece that could be displayed backlit. They show up great in the close up photo--far more than in real life! When held up to a wall (if it was to be hung) or when placed on a table, the scratches are far less noticeable and almost disappear depending on color they are placed on.
