Description: Very Nice Set of Hill's Spelling Blocks No. 4 made by S.L. Hill, Williamsburgh, Long Island, NY. patented 1858 and 1867. All 16 of the blocks are intact and in very good condition each measuring 1 5/8" square and with a letter, number or Roman numeral on each of the 6 sides. The box has a charming lithograph of children playing with blocks and the underside lists the blocks. The wood box is covered with lithographed paper and is in good shape with expected wear as shown but still very nice for being 157 years old. The box measures 6" square x 1.75" high.
