Description: Very Rare Native American Santee Sioux Tribe Dark Blue Trade Wool Cloth Woman's Dress with Rows of Total of 184 (Switzerland Confoederatio Helvetica 5 Rappen) Coins Dating Late 1800's to 1900 with Three Bands of Ribbon Trim Red, White and Pink Along The Bottom Hem and Sleeves and Arms Decorated with Various Beads and Metallic Sequin Accents with Suede Type Fabric Around Neck Ca.1900 ~ 20's. This is one of few Sioux Dresses We have in our collection and is currently displayed in our living room for our enjoyment. We believe this dress dates back to around 1900 and good portion of original coins were replaced at later point to replace fallen or lost coins. Please let me know if you would like us to include two wooden stick with your purchase. *Additional information was provided to me by a friend and a collector who knows more about where this came from* This very rare Sioux summer dress, came from MIN. off the SIOUX Reservation. Huge settlement of Swiss people there.The short sleeve summer dress. Believed to have been made from army blanket wool. Has the rare metal secrums with ribbon, cross decorations. Note the ribbon worn clear through, from age. Wonderful patina . Only time ,and age wears silk that that. 3 to 4 generation wear. Dates back pre 1900's. Bought off the Minnesota Sioux Reservation by a man from Montana. Believe same reservation is still there. Condition report: as expected with an item from early 1900's there are missing beads, some missing coins, erosion to fabric, discoloration, dirt and tear to fabric and loss to fabric.
